The nature of the workshops I’m doing now somehow changed a bit. Though I’m staying true to our vision of creating an artistic experience for the kids, I’m starting to fall back into my old development sector experience habits—back when we would be doing “training sessions”. Well you see the principal at one school asked me specifically to do a gender session with the girls. It was just fantastic and the girls had fun. Though we spent the first hour talking about gender roles and norms, difficulties and challenges and visions and stuff like that. Afterwards I asked them to use all the content and ideas to create their zines. It felt I was more the development expert than the artist. Well I guess thats why we also call this “social art”. I'm not complaining.
